Meetings

We usually meet at one of the local libraries in Durham – generally, either South Library or Southwest Library.  Some of our upcoming events will be at other locations, so watch our upcoming events calendar for details.

Initiatives

Canvassing

Canvassing is a huge part of an effective precinct organization’s work.  Following the completion of the 2018 election cycle, our immediate focus will be on registering voters and raising awareness about issues rather than candidates.  After the 2020 primaries, we’ll be doing neighborhood canvasses to promote Democratic candidates.

Neighborhood Connections

Between now and the 2020 general election, we will be focused on developing neighborhood leaders within the various communities in South Durham, who will ultimately be responsible for organizing voters within their neighborhoods.  If you have strong connections throughout your neighborhood and want to help out, please let us know and we’ll get you the tools you need to get started.

Communication

Political organization is, at its core, about neighbors and friends communicating about the issues that matter to their communities, and then taking action to address those issues.  You can stay connected with Precinct 35.3 in a host of different ways – bookmark this website, check us out on facebook, and follow us on Twitter.

Voter Registration

In addition to registering voters through our canvassing efforts, we also contribute to local organizations registering voters throughout Durham.  A group of Precinct 35.3 volunteers gets trained and participates in voter registration program at the SoDu Farmers Market and outside ACE Hardware on Route 54.  If you are interested in participating, let us know!  You can sign up for trainings at www.youcanvote.org.  Trainings are only 45 minutes long.
