Our Representatives

For the 2019-20 term, the Democrats representing our precinct in the North Carolina General Assembly are Robert Reives (NC House) and Floyd McKissick (NC Senate).  Both have been strong voices for progressive values in the legislature.

Robert Reives – Representative Reives first joined the NC House in 2014.  His district (as redrawn this year) covers all of Chatham County, plus three precincts in South Durham.  Mr. Reives is an attorney who has worked as a local prosecutor and in private practice.

Floyd McKissick – Senator McKissick was first joined the NC Senate in 2007.  His district (as redrawn this year) covers the southern half of Durham County.  Mr. McKissick is an attorney, and has also served as a Durham City Council member and as Chair of the Durham County Democratic Party.

As we begin the 2020 election cycle, we’ll be keeping up with announced Democratic candidacies (though the party does not endorse before the primary!) for various offices.  Check back as the primaries approach for more information.
